Gigantodesma aurita

Schrammen 1924

Gigantodesma aurita is a rare, thick-walled, ear- or funnel-shaped megamorine sponge.

The skeleton is composed of very large megaclones, and Schrammen (1924) has also observed some dermal dichotriaenes. Particular water channels appear to be lacking and circulation occurred through the wide-meshed skeleton.
